cPanel runs on Unix-based operating systems, but cPanel is also compiled for Windows. In essential words, cPanel is a dashboard from which you can control your hosting web account and its resources. It acts as an administrator to configure the services provided by the hosting company, such as email, Manage sites, etc.
Suppose you have bought a domain name and a web hosting plan from some cheap web hosting service provider then; generally, to manage your account, you need to use an FTP client, upload web files, etc.
You also need to maintain the site by updating content and installing scripts which is not an easy task for common people, especially beginners. cPanel will help you collect two domains, addon domains or subdomains.
cPanel makes it all simpler as it provides you an interface through which you can start and stop services, add and delete users, and install scripts. With the cPanel login page, you can use the cPanel dashboard and benefit from the cPanel account.

cPanel vs Web host manager(WHM):
cPanel is easier to install and use while WHM requires more system resources and takes longer to install than cPanel, but it offers greater customization options. cPanel comes with basic features, whereas WHM has advanced functionality.
cPanel is okay for beginners, but experienced web admins may need more power and control over their server. The good news is that you can access the entire WHM interface from within cPanel, which isn't possible with other control panels like Plesk (although this could soon change).
cPanel and WHM are both trendy web hosting control panels. If you want to install one of these on your server without breaking the bank, please check out our Web Hosting page for more details. The links below will take you straight to the appropriate section.
cPanel Web Hosting:
WordPress websites are based on PHP and MySQL. WHM accesses the cPanel to install WordPress for you.
In a nutshell, it is a technical term to call the place where all your website files are stored as a folder, directory, or drive in your computer. These directories or drives/folders in Linux servers are generally known as ‘Public_html.'
To go back to the previous, if any modification has been made in the domain configuration file, it usually knows HTTP.conf. WHM accesses that file from cPanel and then further processes that change into your web server machine's Localhost Folder. It means the Public_html folder of your hosting account, whichever you have defined while creating a hosting account with HostGator company.
cPanel work in WordPress website:
WHM modifies apache.conf file and restart the webserver process. To make changes in your cPanel, you can log in to the WHM console from your client area. For example, you have recently created a hosting account with Hostgator company. For some reason, if you want to change your FTP username or password, then all you need to do is access WHM from your client area and navigate the File Manager option available there.
In File Manager, click on the ‘Home Directory' button under the Action column, which will take you inside your panel's public_html folder, where by default, it has been assigned as the root directory of that hosting account.
The WordPress installation process is just a click away from using WHM. So, after the successful installation of WordPress, you can easily install any themes or plugins that you want by navigating the Plugins and Themes section inside your WordPress Dashboard. If needed, further customization is also possible.
You can change all your website's contents here, and this will not affect your hosting account because everything is done inside your localhost directory, which we know as our Public_html folder—at the same time, working with PHP My Admin under cPanel.
The Bottom Line!
